KNOW HEALTHY HABITS™
The first step in halting the spread of disease among our youth it to provide every child with the essential knowledge base necessary to empower them to become active participants in halting the spread of disease within their home, school and play environments. Providing each child the proper techniques and prevention practices enables them to take actions that will assist in facilitating health among their peer groups and family.
The KNOW Healthy Habits™ Workshop enables our children to gain a comprehensive understanding of the health hazards that exist, their capability to halt the spread of these hazards and the knowledge necessary to minimize the spread of disease within their immediate environment.
Completion of the KNOW Project workshop provides our children with the core practices they can employ to become active participants in the national effort to halt the spread of disease and germs.
KNOW HEALTHY HABITS OBJECTIVES
PROMOTING EQUALITY
· reduce health disparities among economic and geographic sub-sections
· reduce the health issues and series outcomes from lack of parental oversight
KNOWLEDGE
· bring a positive focus to the beneficial and fun elements of employing healthy habits by illustrating the effect that good health has on each child’s ability to play, grow and KNOW · provide the education, skills, and tools that assist in reforming behavioral habits
· emphasize the importance of social environment to individual health, community health, and long-term outcomes
· empower our youth to make modifications to their physical environment that assist in raising the levels of health
· ensure an understanding and access to the correct quantity and type of physical activity
· illustrate the benefits of physical activity to the maintenance of a healthy body, obtainment of psychological well-being and prevention of common disease
· empower each child by providing the core practices they can employ to become active participants in the national effort to halt the spread of disease and germs in a child centric, interactive medium
· ensure that each child has the capability to maintain their current standard of health, minimize the health hazards that exist and determine how they may halt the spread of disease through their proactive efforts
TOOLS
· providing the tools and knowledge base that enables each child to achieve overall health including disease prevention, oral health and the minimization of environmental risk factors
COMMUNITY
· facilitate a relationship between our youth and community medical providers increasing the likelihood that applicable medical services will be sought (immunizations, preventative care, intervention)
· ensure each child is aware of multiple sources of assistance and health services
· affirm the commitment of the community to empowering each child to become an active participant in their own health and well-being
· complement the skill lessons provided at the KNOW Healthy Habits Workshop with the support of community businesses who provide enhanced first aid components and health screenings to each child
