KNOW STRANGER DANGER

Every child in our community must be empowered with the skills that they need to minimize exposure to predatory actions, react to potential or active abuse situations and become participants in their own safety and well-being.  The KNOW Stranger Danger Workshop assists in empowering our youth in the areas of public and private safety by ensuring that they gain the knowledge, tools and skills to minimize potential at risk situational incidences.  The KNOW Stranger Danger Workshop provides the education and self-help awareness tactics that will ensure that our youth gain the skill base necessary to seek and attain the assistance critical to help minimize the impact of situational safety risks.

Each element within the KNOW Stranger Danger Workshop is dedicated toward teaching our young people to recognize potential dangers, enhance the self-confidence of each child through the affirmation that they are not in the wrong regardless of what occurs, and ensure each child has the knowledge that the community contains dedicated individuals who will provide them with help without question.  This is essential if we want our young people to gain confidence in the ability of the individuals within their community to provide aid if necessary.

The KNOW Stranger Danger workshop takes a positive approach to abuse prevention by isolating the most common abusive situations and educating the children in the practices that they can employ to reduce the impact of abuse.  Each child will be empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to minimize the occurrence of these incidences, attain help from adults within their community if they are in an abusive situation, and gain the confidence necessary to respond proactively to any dangerous situation that exists.  The two most effective factors in the prevention of abuse in the lives of our children are education and community support for our children.  KNOW delivers the necessary education through the interactive workshop components that enable every child to form situational habits that minimize potential risks and our community sponsors and volunteers show every child that they live in a community with a firm commitment to helping every child grow up safe!
